🧁 Introduction

In today’s competitive digital landscape, even small businesses like local pickup bakeries need an elegant and high-performing web presence. The client approached me with a simple yet important goal:“Build a visually appealing, fast, and responsive static website that reflects our brand’s personality and allows customers to easily browse our cakes and place orders for pickup.”This case study outlines my approach—from discovery and design to development, deployment, and optimization.

📋 Client Requirements

Build a visually appealing and static website to showcase custom cakes

Emphasize pickup-only model, no online delivery or payment needed

Fast-loading and mobile-responsive

Easy navigation for local users to check products and pickup

🛠️ Challenges & Solutions

Image carousel plugin required a premium plan - Created custom CSS animations to simulate smooth transitions

Website performance initially poor - Compressed images, added caching & CDN to improve GTmetrix score

Gallery section slowed mobile UX - Hid gallery on mobile and added a CTA button

📱 Key Takeaways

User Behavior Insight: Desktop users explore more; mobile users act faster.

UX Decision: Based on Google’s UI/UX course, I hid the Gallery section on mobile (large images, slow load)Replaced it with a mobile-only CTA button (e.g., “Call to Order” / “View Menu”) for faster interaction

Branding Skill Upgrade: Strengthened skills in logo design and Adobe Photoshop for product image editing

Performance Focus: Learned firsthand how image optimization, caching, and plugin choice directly impact performance
